The PSUK Annual Sports Awards Dinner returns on Wednesday 17th March 2027, this time to the Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel on Water Street, Manchester.
Held in conjunction with the Chief Constables Council Meeting, the evening brings together Chief Constables, senior officers, key stakeholders and, most importantly, the winners. It remains the one night in the calendar where police sport takes centre stage, and where the officers, staff and volunteers who keep it running are recognised in front of the people who lead the service.
The Venue
The Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel sits on Water Street in the heart of Manchester, a converted Victorian warehouse on the banks of the Irwell with exposed brickwork, original timber beams and a short walk to everything the city centre has to offer.

What to Expect
The format follows the pattern set at York in 2026 and Coventry in 2025: a drinks reception, a formal dinner, and an awards presentation recognising individuals and teams from across all 43 UK police forces.
The awards presented in March 2026 were:
- Awards of Excellence, recognising sustained performance at the highest levels of competition!
- Volunteer of the Year
- The Neil Braithwaite Community Award
- Team of the Year
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Award
- Sports Person of the Year
Categories for 2027 will be confirmed alongside the nomination process later this year.
Looking Back
Last March, The Milner Hotel in York hosted an evening opened by Chief Constable Rachel Kearton of Suffolk Constabulary and Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine of Northumbria Police, Joint Chairs of Police Sport UK, with closing remarks from Gavin Stephens, Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council.
Rob Sparkes of Humberside Police took Sports Person of the Year after winning the PSUK National Cross Country Championships and defending his British Police Fell Race title. The Women’s National Police Football Team were named Team of the Year following an unprecedented run to the semi-finals of the European Championships in Germany. Glynis Perks of Sussex Police was recognised as Volunteer of the Year in the year she reached a 50-year milestone in police swimming, and Raffi Aghanian of North Yorkshire Police received the Neil Braithwaite Community Award for his work keeping wrestling and judo alive and for pacing student officers and recovering colleagues through their fitness tests in his own time.
East Midlands Women’s Police Football Club received the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Award for a five-force collaboration spanning Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire. Awards of Excellence went to Aimee Ramm (Surrey Police), Louise Blizzard (Cheshire Police), Louise McInnes (Police Scotland) and Christopher Jones (South Wales Police).
Twelve months earlier, the College of Policing in Coventry hosted the 2025 awards, with headline sponsorship from XPS Group and Motorola Solutions as reception sponsor. Callie-Ann Warrington of the Metropolitan Police took Sports Personality of the Year, South Wales Rugby were named Team of the Year, Scotland Rugby received the EDI Award, Nick Fish of Norfolk Constabulary was named Volunteer of the Year, and Nev Hamilton, retired from South Yorkshire Police, received the Community Award. Excellence Awards went to Lisa Ritchie, Nigel Gaskin and Mick Watson.
That is the standard the 2027 nominations have to meet.
Nominations
Nominations are invited from Sporting Sections, Force Sports Clubs, the Police Clubs Forum and the PSUK Management Committee, with entries considered and voted on by the Management Committee before winners are notified and formally invited.
The nomination window and key dates for 2027 will be published on the TeamPolice website and circulated to sections in due course. If you know someone whose contribution deserves recognition, start building the case now.

Why It Matters
Police Sport UK represents more than 300,000 serving officers, police staff, retired officers and staff, and their families. Sport is not a nice-to-have for that community. It builds resilience, creates connection across ranks and forces, and gives people a reason to look after themselves and each other.
